The Society
Melrose Amateur Operatic Society was founded in 1935 to foster the appreciation of the works of Sir W S Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in musical theatre and Gilbert & Sullivan in particular.
In addition to the annual show in February, members enjoy a wide range of social events. A fund-raising concert is often usually held in the spring.
Rehearsals for the annual show start at the end of August and are held on Monday evenings until November, then also on Thursdays. Principals also rehearse on Sunday evenings.
We would love to hear from you, if you would like to:
- sing on stage, particularly if you are a bass or tenor
- get involved with production
- receive information about auditions
- be a Patron
- be placed on the Society’s mailing list
- help with set construction or backstage
- help with Front of House during the show
- ask anything else about the Society!
